Three more powerful powertrains in the new Porsche Macan

The new Macan is launching with two engines: the GTS and S models are each powered by a six-cylinder V-engine with a displacement of 2.9 liters and two exhaust gas turbochargers. As is usual with all Porsche V-engines, the turbochargers are arranged between the cylinder banks in the so-called Central Turbo layout. Short throttle paths from the combustion chambers to the turbine wheels give the units agile and spontaneous characteristics. A newly developed four-cylinder in-line engine in the Macan combines dynamics and efficiency in a particularly harmonious way. Optimizations in efficiency, friction and acoustics have increased the performance and noise comfort of the turbocharged gasoline engine while at the same time reducing emissions. All powertrains in the new Macan are significantly more powerful than in the respective predecessor model. In order to implement the spontaneous power delivery of the engines as directly as possible, the Porsche Doppelkupplungsgetriebe (PDK) with seven gears continues to transmit the drive torque to the axles. The tried-and-tested Porsche Traction Management (PTM) all-wheel drive system always directs power to the rear axle and, if necessary, variably to the front. For the most powerful model, the tuning of the all-wheel drive system has been made even more agile. As an option, Porsche Torque Vectoring Plus (PTV Plus) increases lateral dynamics in all models with a transverse lock on the rear axle and targeted braking interventions.
