The new Kia Sportage GT drive

In the fifth generation, the Kia Sportage is being offered for the first time with a plug-in hybrid drive, which is also the top motorization of the SUV. The largely electrified drive range also includes petrol and diesel mild hybrids as well as a non-hybridised entry-level petrol engine. Depending on the engine, the new Sportage is available with front or all-wheel drive and with a six-speed manual or seven-speed dual-clutch transmission (DCT). The standard all-wheel drive plug-in hybrid has a six-speed automatic transmission. The agile 1.6 T-GDI from Kia, which is available in two power variants with 110 kW (150 hp) and 132 kW (180 hp), is used in all petrol engines, including the plug-in version. The highly efficient four-cylinder engine works with CVVD (Continuously Variable Valve Duration) valve control. This technology makes it possible to switch seamlessly between different combustion cycles depending on the engine load. This increases performance at low to medium engine speeds and reduces fuel consumption at the same time. The efficiency of the turbo petrol engine was further increased by optimizing the combustion process and the cooling technology, as well as by measures to reduce friction, including an integrated heat management system and the use of a low-friction ball bearing
