The Lexus LS 500h excellent handling

As a flagship, the Lexus LS 500h guarantees excellent handling: Whether on the highway or in city traffic, the sedan confidently masters everyday driving. The usable range of the high-voltage battery has been extended, which reduces the differences in drive force before and after shifting gears, creating a smooth acceleration feel. An additional 170 Nm of torque is now available at 20 km/h or when the accelerator pedal is depressed 40 percent. The greater use of the electric motor also ensures that the 3.5-liter V6 gasoline engine can operate at lower revs. When accelerating from zero to 100 km/h with 40 percent accelerator pedal pressure, for example, the revised Multistage Hybrid Drive requires 500 rpm less. In conjunction with modified shift points, there are henceforth no more sudden fluctuations in engine speed when accelerating, and the ride is smoother and more pleasant. In city traffic in particular, comfort and smoothness increase noticeably, also and especially when the combustion engine is activated in EV mode after driving. Despite all these improvements, the performance figures remain unchanged. The Multistage Hybrid Drive develops a total system output of 264 kW/359 hp and enables acceleration from zero to 100 km/h in 5.4 (in conjunction with rear-wheel drive) or 5.5 seconds (all-wheel drive). The service life of the high-voltage battery is also not affected.
