McLaren Unveils Next Generation High Performance Hybrid Super Sports Car - The McLaren Artura

Source: AutoMotoTV (Glomex)

At the heart of the Artura powertrain is McLaren's all-new 2,993 cc twin-turbo V6 petrol engine. With an output of 585 HP - almost 200 HP per liter - and 585 Nm torque, the dry sump aluminum motor is compact and light; At just 160kg, it weighs 50kg less than a McLaren V8 and is significantly shorter, which improves space efficiency. The M630 engine is designed to run with a gasoline particulate filter to optimize emissions performance and is also extremely sophisticated. The 120 ° V angle of the engine, which enables the turbochargers to be positioned within the "Hot Vee", offers further advantages in terms of installation space and contributes to a lower center of gravity. The 120 ° layout boosts engine performance by reducing pressure drops through the exhaust system and allowing for a stiffer crankshaft that allows a speed limit of 8,500 rpm, which maximizes performance and the driving experience. The Artura's compact axial flow electric motor, which is housed in the bell housing, works in harmony with the new V6. It is smaller and more powerful than a conventional axial flow electric motor and can generate 95 hp and 225 Nm. The power density per kilo is 33% higher than the system used in the McLaren P1 ™. The immediate provision of torque by the engine - known as "torque infill" - is the key to the car's razor-sharp throttle response. The Artura accelerates from 0-100km / h in just 3.0 seconds, from 0-200km / h in 8.3 seconds and from 0-300km / h in 21.5 seconds. The top speed is limited to 330km / h (205mph)
