New assistance systems such as the enhanced "Park Assist Plus" make maneuvering the Golf and Golf Variant easier. This can detect whether a parking space (parallel or perpendicular) is large enough as you drive past and starts the parking process accordingly. It takes over the steering as well as the acceleration and braking. The driver only has to monitor the parking process. In addition, Park Assist Pro, available for the first time for the Golf, enables parking and reversing via smartphone. The vehicle can be parked remotely, for example, if the parking space is very narrow. Another new feature is the "Area View" system - here, a 360-degree all-round view is generated by the interaction of four cameras and the corresponding image is transmitted to the touchscreen of the infotainment system. Kerbs and parking markings are thus easy to recognize.
