The new Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS - Sports car designed for maximum driving pleasure

Source: AutoMotoTV (Glomex)

At the heart of the sports car designed for maximum driving pleasure is the free-suction six-cylinder boxer engine already familiar from the 911 GT3 Cup racing car and the 911 GT3 production model. The engine generates up to 9,000 crankshaft revolutions per minute. Power output increases by 59 kW compared with the 718 Cayman GT4. This results in a power-to-weight ratio of 2.83 kg/hp. Maximum torque climbs from 430 to 450 Newton meters. A striking feature of the new 718 top model is the process air intakes behind the windows for the driver and front passenger. Normally, small side windows are installed in this position on the 718 Cayman. The new air intakes improve the routing of intake air and at the same time create an impressive and emotional intake sound - at ear level for the occupants. The characteristic air intakes in front of the rear wheels have been retained and are used for engine cooling. Like every modern RS model, the new 718 Cayman GT4 RS comes exclusively with Porsche Doppelkupplungsgetriebe (PDK): It changes the seven gears at lightning speed and guarantees maximum performance. Thanks to the shift paddles, the hands can remain on the steering wheel at all times, even when changing gears manually. Alternatively, the driver of the 718 Cayman GT4 RS can also engage the gears using the newly designed selector lever on the center console. The short-ratio sports PDK supports the mid-engine sports car's fulminant sprinting ability. The 718 Cayman GT4 RS accelerates from zero to 100 km/h in just 3.4 seconds (GT4 with PDK: 3.9 seconds). Propulsion ends at 315 km/h (GT4 with PDK: 302 km/h). The GT4 RS reaches its top speed in seventh gear.
