The ultimate open-air roadster experience - the ultra-exclusive McLaren Elva enters production in a windshield version

Luxury supercar manufacturer McLaren Automotive will soon begin production of a windshield version of its Elva roadster. Designed for customers who prefer to have more protection than the air barrier provided by the Active Air Management System (AAMS), as well as to meet local type approval requirements in some U.S. states, the windshield variant - it will be among McLaren's rarest cars - is revealed today, with a preview image of the prototype. The Elva without a windshield is McLaren Automotive's lightest road car ever and the windshield version is only 20 kg heavier, counting electronically synchronized rain-sensing wipers, windshield washer jets and sun visors, as well as, of course, the heated glass windshield set in a carbon fiber frame. The Active Air Management System (AAMS) is eliminated having no function in the windshield model version. The acceleration of both versions is comparable to that of a McLaren Senna, the model without windshield reaches 100 km / h from rest in 2.8 seconds and covers 0-200 km / h in 6.8 seconds. The dynamic performance and rigidity of the vehicle also remain unchanged compared to the car without a windshield, as well as the exhilarating 'driving experience. The windshield, which is a fixed element, offers added protection from the elements but in no way reduces performance or driving pleasure.
