With the Alfa Romeo Tonale, the brand is making a concrete commitment to a future focused on sustainable mobility. At the same time, the new SUV remains true to the performance and driving dynamics typical of the brand. The new Alfa Romeo Tonale offers efficient hybrid powertrains that boost performance without neglecting the environment. Alfa Romeo's first electrified C-segment SUV debuts with the 118 kW (160 hp) VGT (Variable Geometry Turbo) hybrid developed exclusively for this model. The 48-volt electric motor produces 15 kW and 55 Newton meters; thanks to the 2.5:1 gear ratio, effective torque is around 135 Nm. The electric motor, which is integrated in a so-called P2 configuration, also enables fully electric driving in conjunction with the seven-speed dual-clutch transmission. Thanks to this technical solution, it is possible to drive in electric mode with an output of up to 15 kW if required. This is sufficient for low speeds when parking or in stop-and-go traffic, for example.
