The new Mercedes EQE - the chassis

Source: AutoMotoTV (Glomex)

The chassis of the new EQE with a four-link axle at the front and an independent multi-link axle at the rear is structurally closely related to the new S-Class. Rear-axle steering with a steering angle of up to 10 degrees is available as an option for great maneuverability in the city and agility in the country. The EQE is also optionally available with AIRMATIC air suspension with continuously adjustable damping ADS+. The EQE has the proven four-link axle on the front axle. Its independent multi-link rear axle is designed for the integration of the rear-axle steering. The subframe mounts and the elastomer mounts of the rear axle struts have been improved in terms of NVH and driving characteristics in extensive simulations and road tests. The optional AIRMATIC air suspension is particularly sensitive. It combines air spring bellows and adaptive ADS+ dampers, the identification of which can be changed individually on each wheel, controlled fully automatically and separately in rebound and compression stages. Sophisticated sensors and algorithms adjust the dampers according to the condition of the road in such a way that, for example, driving over a bump with just one wheel does not affect the entire axle and the passenger compartment. The spring and damper are combined in a spring strut on the front axle
