The "Grounding Time" trend has gone viral on TikTok due to its calming effect. Grounding Time is a therapeutic technique called "grounding". This technique helps you feel connected to the present moment and push away distressing thoughts. It is also known as "Corpse Pose" in yoga. The goal of grounding is to focus attention on the present. This can be done through mental or physical techniques. During Grounding Time, you lie on your back and stretch out on the floor for at least 5 minutes, long enough to relax but not enough to fall asleep. If lying on a hard floor is uncomfortable, you can use a blanket or pillow for cushioning. When stressed, time on the floor is the ultimate grounding technique," says wellness consultant Daryl Appleton. Appleton explains that it's even better to lie on the ground outdoors because the nervous system can recalibrate.
