A few days before the premiere of Lamborghini's first V12 hybrid super sports car, the company provides a first glimpse of the driving dynamics capabilities of the High Performance Electrified Vehicle (HPEV). The new vehicle - project designation LB744 - has been developed with the aim of providing maximum control and driving pleasure in all situations and on any surface. The driver feels connected to the vehicle in an unprecedented way because the set-up of the new model conveys an extreme amount of confidence. Lamborghini's new hybrid supercar immediately puts itself at the forefront of the segment with a host of innovations: it benefits from a very well-balanced set-up, a state-of-the-art bodyshell, cutting-edge aerodynamics and a hybrid powertrain that gets the most out of the coupled electric motors. In addition, there are 13 driving modes to choose from, including an emission-free all-wheel drive mode. The car is distinguished by its unique layout: 6.5-liter naturally aspirated V12 engine in the center position, three electric motors, two of which are installed on the all-electric front axle (E-axle) and one of which is integrated directly into the eight-speed dual-clutch transmission. The transmission is installed transversely behind the V12 for the first time. The center tunnel, which has been the location for the transmission since the days of the Countach, now houses the new powerful lithium-ion battery that supplies the electric motors with energy

The V8 petrol engine isn’t the only introduction. There's also a new XS Edition, fresh exterior design packs that provide greater personalisation potential and an optional larger 11.4-inch Pivi Pro infotainment touchscreen. Defender V8 builds on the rugged 4x4’s class-leading capability, delivering new levels of performance and driver engagement by combining a powerful 525PS 5.0-litre V8 supercharged petrol engine with expertly developed suspension and transmission tuning to create the fastest and most dynamically rewarding Defender yet. The Plug-in Hybrid is the second electrified drivetrain in the Sorento line-up and sits alongside the low-emissions Sorento Hybrid. The latest addition to the range blends a powerful 1.6-litre T-GDi Turbocharged Direct injection petrol engine with a high capacity battery pack and high output electric motor, allowing the driver to complete an average daily commute to work purely on all-electric, zero emissions power. And the low CO2 emissions of the all-new Sorento Plug-in Hybrid makes it attractive for business users, thanks to its super low company car Benefit-in-Kind taxation rates. While many plug-in hybrid vehicles result in compromise, the fourth generation Sorento was designed from the beginning to accommodate electrified powertrains and deliver spacious accommodation for up to seven occupants. The larger body and all-new platform ensure that the latest iteration of the Sorento is one of the most spacious, practical and versatile electrified models on the market today.
