The new Lexus RX 450h+ - The first RX with plug-in hybrid drive

Source: AUTOMOTOTV (Glomex)

The RX 450h+ drives forward with the same plug-in hybrid system that was already successfully introduced in the NX. It combines a 2.5-liter four-cylinder hybrid engine operating in the Atkinson cycle with an 18.1 kWh lithium-ion battery. An additional electric motor in the rear enables Lexus E-Four permanent all-wheel drive. The plug-in system produces 227 kW (309 hp) of power and enables 0-100 km/h acceleration in 6.5 seconds. Overall, performance is roughly on par with the previous RX 450h, but with more torque and quicker acceleration. With more of the power coming from the electric motors, driving feels effortless and refined. Fuel consumption and emissions will also be significantly lower. Lexus expects very competitive CO2 emissions (WLTP cycle) of less than 26 g/km and fuel consumption of less than 1.2 l/100 km. The RX 450h+ can cover around 65 kilometers in purely electric mode and thus with zero local emissions; the electric top speed is limited to 130 km/h.
