It is the avant-garde model of the business class: the Arteon. A design statement. In fall 2020, the Gran Turismo received an extensive technology update. At the same time, Volkswagen sent a second body version into the race: the new Arteon Shooting Brake. In spring 2021, the new top models of the series will be launched - the Arteon R and Arteon R Shooting Brake. With an output of 235 kW (320 hp), they will henceforth be the most powerful Arteon models. Both sports and touring cars were designed by Volkswagen R, the brand's performance specialist. The two new Arteon versions are the latest milestones in an "R" product offensive: Within six months, Volkswagen R has launched no fewer than five new top models in the respective model series: the Touareg R, Golf R, Tiguan R, Arteon R and Arteon R Shooting Brake02. The T-Roc R has also been on offer since 2019. Incidentally, the first independent "R" model to make its debut was the Golf R32 in summer 2002, which has long since been hailed as a classic - it was the initial spark for a fireworks display of top-class "R" models that continues to this day. The common denominator: permanent all-wheel drive, exclusive equipment and uncompromisingly good everyday characteristics.

The use of powertrain from the forthcoming JUKE Hybrid reflects both the additional performance it offers in the production version, as well as the improvements to its efficiency and emissions. The JUKE Hybrid powertrain consists of a new generation, state-of-the-art Nissan internal combustion engine specifically developed for working in a hybrid powertrain application. It produces 69kW (94hp) and 148Nm of torque. On the electric side, the main electric motor produces 36kW (49hp) and 205Nm of torque, while there is a 15kW contribution from a high voltage starter/generator, all of which is fed by a 1.2kWh water-cooled battery. The net result is a powertrain providing 25% more power than the current petrol engine option, with a fuel consumption reduction of approximately 40% in the urban cycle, and up to 20% combined.
