Toyota offers the Prius Plug-in Hybrid optionally with a large solar roof. It has a nominal output of around 180 watts and increases the electric range of the Prius plug-in hybrid by up to five kilometers per day. This means that the high-voltage battery can be charged to a maximum of 80 percent of the charge volume in eight days - this corresponds to a range of around 40 kilometers. With 200 days of sunshine per year, this number adds up to around 1,000 additional kilometers that can be covered free of charge and with no CO2. If the car is parked in the sun, the energy gained is first stored in a separate battery and then bundled into the drive battery via a so-called pump voltage. In addition, the solar system charges the vehicle's 12-volt battery while driving in order to relieve the on-board network and, for example, to supply the lighting, air conditioning and other electrical consumers. This also reduces fuel consumption and increases the efficiency of the hybrid system by up to three percent. The innovative solar roof can be ordered in the "Prius Plug-in" version for 2,924.39 euros (including 16 percent VAT). "
