The Opel Grandland X Hybrid4 - The mountain king

Electric cars are only something for the city - is sometimes claimed. But this is not true. Opel's electrified models also play to their very own strengths, especially in the mountains. These are high torque from a standstill, good traction, energy recovery (recuperation) with ideal braking effect when driving downhill, first-class handling thanks to a low center of gravity, and a long range. The mountain king here is the Opel Grandland X Hybrid4. With its combination of one combustion engine and two electric motors, the SUV from Rüsselsheim offers a system output of up to 221 kW/300 hp. So there's plenty of power available at all times uphill. The electric all-wheel drive ensures excellent traction in all driving situations. This not only makes driving fun, but also gives an all-round feeling of safety. The journey is effortless uphill - and even more so downhill again, as the two electric motors now show off their strengths in terms of energy recovery and braking efficiency. The electric motors on the front and rear axles become generators and convert the thrust energy of the downhill drive into electric current. If the driver shifts the automatic transmission to drive mode B, recuperation and braking torque are increased. The 13.2 kWh battery is recharged free of charge - reserves for the next climbs.
