Rib fracture explained simply

Source: mediahype (Glomex)

Dr. Jona Ober explains rib fracture. The symptoms of a rib fracture are very similar to those of a contusion - the affected area has hematomas and swelling. A rib fracture is usually very painful, especially when breathing, coughing or sneezing. Pressing the affected area also hurts, it is not uncommon to hear a crunching sound, or feel a so-called skin emphysema (air accumulation). In some fractures, the fracture site can even be felt.
