Propulsion is provided by the Drive-E engines. The gasoline and diesel engines cover a power range from 145 kW (197 hp) to 220 kW (300 hp) and are all combined with a mild hybrid system. Brake energy recovery reduces consumption by up to 15 percent. In addition, two plug-in hybrid drives are available: the Recharge T6 with 251 kW (340 hp) and the Recharge T8 with 288 kW (390 hp). They combine powerful power delivery with high efficiency. In the combined WLTP cycle, 46 to 53 kilometers can be covered in purely electric mode and thus completely free of local emissions. The top model is the T8 AWD Polestar Engineered, which develops 299 kW (405 hp).

Mazda will be bringing its first all-electric vehicle to market soon in the form of the MX-30 SUV, which made its debut at the 2019 Tokyo auto show. After Europe, the international version of the EQB, produced in Kecskemét, Hungary, will be launched at the end of the year, followed by the US market launch in 2022.
