Source: AutoMotoTV (Glomex)

Nissan is working on a new driver assistance technology that will vastly improve collision avoidance in the future. To do this, the system uses highly detailed real-time information about the vehicle's surroundings. In initial tests, the automaker has already demonstrated how the "Ground Truth Perception" technology automatically performs maneuvers to avoid collisions. Nissan's "Ground Truth Perception" technology combines information from high-performance LiDAR sensors, radar and next-generation cameras. The system detects the shape and distance of objects as well as the structure of the environment. Based on this information, it can immediately analyze and assess a current situation and automatically implement necessary collision avoidance measures. In addition, the system also detects gridlocked traffic as well as distant obstacles and can automatically initiate lane changes. "Ground Truth Perception" also works in areas where detailed map information is not available.
