The 296 GTS is Ferrari's first roadworthy Spider, featuring a turbocharged V6 engine with a 120° angle between the cylinder banks and coupled to a plug-in electric motor. The turbochargers of the V6, which debuted on the 296 GTB in 2021, are installed within this V between the cylinder banks. This particular architecture not only brings significant advantages in terms of packaging, lowering the center of gravity and reducing engine mass, but also contributes to extremely high performance values. The result is that the Ferrari V6 sets a new record for the specific power of a production vehicle with 221 hp/l. With the V6 turbo coupled to an electric motor at the rear, the 296 GTS's combined maximum power output is 830 hp, placing it at the top of the rear-wheel drive sports car segment while also making it extremely flexible. With a range of 25 km in purely electric mode, the hybrid element not only makes the car extremely versatile in everyday use, but also ensures immediate and even response at all engine speeds. The powertrain consists of a turbocharged V6 engine that transmits power to the rear wheels via the 8-speed dual-clutch transmission (DCT) and E-Diff, and the MGU-K between the engine and transmission. There is a clutch between the combustion engine and the electric motor to decouple them in purely electric eDrive mode. Finally, there is a high-voltage battery and an inverter for the electric motor
