Here we see a three-fingered sloth about to give birth. The females carry their offspring up to 6 months before they give birth mostly hanging. Then a 190 - 450 g heavy young animal is born. This sloth prefers a water birth and also induces it quite comfortably and calmly. After the cub is born in the water, it clings to the mother's abdomen and remains there until it is independent.
