Earth Hour - Every year on the last Saturday in March, people around the world switch off the lights for one hour. Since 2007, the flexible date has stood for the so-called Earth Hour, which this year falls on March 27. For the first time the Earth Hour was accomplished on 31. March 2007 in the Australian Sydney by the WWF. The principle of Earth Hour is simple: On the respective date, lights are to be switched off worldwide between 8:30 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. local time in order to set a collective signal for the protection of the planet.
