The electric Mercedes-Benz G-Class - The Drive

Source: AUTOMOTOTV (Glomex)

With four near-wheel and individually controllable electric motors, the new electric G-Class offers unique driving characteristics both on and off the road. It is the first mass-produced vehicle of the Mercedes-Benz Group with individual wheel drive. The four motors are integrated in the ladder frame - two in each of the housings on the front and rear axles. The drive is via short half shafts. Therefore, the rear electric motors can also be bolted to the chassis. Each of the electric motors delivers a peak power of 108 kW, resulting in a maximum total power of 432 kW. The maximum total torque is up to 1,164 Nm. In collaboration with ESP® and the central drive control unit (CPC), it is always precisely applied where the new electric G-Class needs traction.
