The new Nissan X-Trail - Conventional combustion engine with mild hybrid system

As an alternative to the e-POWER drive, which most customers in Europe will probably opt for, Nissan offers a turbo gasoline engine with variable compression ratio. The three-cylinder engine develops 120 kW (163 hp) and 300 Nm of torque from a displacement of 1.5 liters. The continuously variable Xtronic automatic transmission always sends power to the front wheels. During relaxed driving and light acceleration, the engine uses a high compression ratio to optimize fuel efficiency. In situations where more power is needed, the compression ratio is reduced. The powertrain is combined with 12-volt mild hybrid technology as standard. During braking, energy is recovered by recuperation and stored in the lithium-ion battery to power electrical consumers when the engine is switched off, for example at a red light. As a result, the engine is switched off for longer and switched on again more quickly, which has a positive effect on both fuel consumption and CO2 emissions. During acceleration, a torque boost of around 6 Nm can also be generated.
