With the new Mazda CX-60, Mazda takes another step toward implementing its "Sustainable Zoom-Zoom 2030" sustainability program. In this program, the Japanese automaker has set itself the goal of electrifying all new vehicles by 2030. As a result, the new Mazda CX-60 is not only the company's first vehicle to be offered with a plug-in hybrid powertrain, but also features electric assistance in its other engine options with the 48V Mazda M Hybrid Boost system. The new Mazda CX-60 utilizes Mazda's Skyactiv Multi-Solution Scalable Architecture. This creates the technical prerequisites for the longitudinal installation of the newly developed in-line six-cylinder gasoline and diesel engines as well as for the integration of the electric drive components of the plug-in hybrid drive and the M Hybrid Boost System. The longitudinally installed powertrain of the Mazda CX-60 offers many advantages. For example, engines and batteries of different sizes can be accommodated in the same layout on both Mazda M Hybrid Boost and plug-in technology versions. It is also possible to integrate the electric motor directly into the transmission.
