Nissan Qashqai e-Power - Unique drive for the crossover bestseller

The Nissan Qashqai sets new standards in the crossover segment: With the new e-Power technology, an innovative electrified drive system is now finding its way into the pioneer. The Qashqai is the first Nissan model in Europe with the e-power drive. The exclusive Nissan system is a central building block in the company's electrification strategy and offers a direct, efficient and quiet driving experience. Advance sales of the new Nissan Qashqai e-Power in Germany started on July 1, and the vehicles will be available in stores from September. The e-power system combines a 1.5-liter, 116 kW/158 hp three-cylinder turbo petrol engine with a variable compression ratio with electrified components. These include a high-capacity battery, alternator, inverter and 140 kW/190 hp electric motor, similar in size and power to the Nissan EVs. The petrol engine generates electricity, which, depending on the driving situation, flows via the inverter to the battery, the electric motor or both. The special thing about this concept: The wheels are always driven by the electric motor, which responds immediately and linearly. In this respect, this drive system differs from conventional hybrid vehicles, in which some of the power comes from the combustion engine - with corresponding disadvantages for driving behavior.
