All this helps to remind us of the incredible success story of the Abarth 131 Rally, which debuted in Group 4 in 1976 and made a splash in the World Rally Championship for six years (1976 to 1981). The 131 Rally won 18 international rallies - the last success was "clinched" by Markku Alén at the Rally Portugal in March 1981. In addition, the car won the manufacturers' title in the World Championship three times (1977, 1978 and 1980), won the FIA Rally Drivers' Cup twice with Alén and became the drivers' world champion last year with Walter Röhrl.
