The new Mercedes-Benz Citan - Reaching for the stars

Safety is a key brand value of Mercedes-Benz. The stable body structure with energy-absorbing load paths contributes to the high safety level of the new Citan, as does the extensive equipment with modern driving assistance systems. These can support and relieve the driver in numerous situations. The Citan is also a pioneer when it comes to restraint systems: The Tourer, for example, has a center airbag as standard, which can deploy between the driver and front passenger seats in the event of serious side collisions. In the panel van, six airbags are on board as standard. Supported by radar sensors as well as cameras, the driver assistance systems monitor traffic and surroundings and can intervene to warn and assist if necessary. As in the new generations of the Mercedes C-Class and S-Class, Active Lane Keeping Assist works by steering instead of braking and is therefore particularly convenient. The driving assistance systems of the new Citan were extensively tested at the Group's own Test and Technology Center in Immendingen (PTZ), among other places. More than 30 different test and inspection tracks are laid out there on an area of 520 hectares.
