The new Ford SYNC 4 connectivity system made its European debut in the battery-electric Ford Mustang Mach-E. In the new Ford Focus, the Ford SYNC 4 connectivity system includes the Ford navigation system with AppLink, 13.2-inch touchscreen (screen diagonal: 33 centimeters) and radio section with DAB/DAB+ (Digital Audio Broadcasting). It relies on the benefits of cloud-based navigation1) and networked voice control that understands normally spoken commands. A new feature is the now 13.2-inch (instead of the previous eight-inch) landscape touchscreen above the center console. The Ford SYNC 4 system features an intuitive menu structure and a host of advanced functions. In terms of assistance technologies, the Ford Focus comes up with an even more comprehensive range. The blind spot assistant, for example, can now actively influence the driver through targeted steering impulses to prevent a risky lane change if another road user is diagonally behind their own car or approaching in an area that is difficult to see. In conjunction with the "Trailer Detection" function, Blind Spot Assist even extends this precautionary measure over the full length of a trailer when the Ford Focus is used as a towing vehicle. In the future, more choice will distinguish the EcoBoost Hybrid models with 48-volt technology: Ford offers the two mild hybrid variants (MHEV) unchanged with an output of 92 kW (125 hp) and 114 kW (155 hp) respectively - but now also in each case in conjunction with a 7-speed Ford PowerShift automatic transmission. This dual-clutch transmission is particularly convincing in slow-moving traffic thanks to its great ease of operation, while in combination with the additional thrust of the electric generator it also enhances driving pleasure.
