The new Mercedes-Benz EQS under the microscope - seeing, hearing, smelling, feeling

The EQS can be experienced with almost all of the senses. As a result, the fully electric luxury model reaches a new dimension in terms of aesthetics and luxury. Seeing, hearing, smelling, feeling and tasting - these are the classic human senses. The new EQS addresses the first four in a variety of ways: Visual perception: Over 100 million rods and cones are located in the retina of the human eye. With these sensory cells we can see, for example, the revolutionary features of the EQS for the luxury class, such as the cab-forward design or the coupé-like “One Bow” line with a hatchback. At first glance, this clearly distinguishes the EQS from vehicles with a combustion engine and is underlined by the black panel front and the design of the lighting. Auditory perception: People perceive sound waves through their ears. The hearing impression of the EQS ranges between comfortable calm and an interactive, sensual sound experience. With a holistic sound staging, the sound experts from Mercedes have made the paradigm shift from combustion to electric cars acoustically perceptible. The EQS comes with the two sound worlds Silver Waves and Vivid Flux. Olfactory perception: When you breathe, fragrances are constantly introduced. Two systems independently report odors to the brain: Millions of receptors in the nasal mucosa and the ends of the trigeminal nerve. The EQS has something against unpleasant smells: its large HEPA filter (High Efficiency Particulate Air) not only cleans the outside air very effectively from fine dust, tiny particles and pollen. Special activated carbons in the HEPA filter and in the cabin filter also take over the filtration of sulfur dioxide and nitrogen oxides as well as odors
