On June 30, 2021, Mercedes-Benz Trucks will celebrate the world premiere of its battery-electric eActros for heavy-duty distribution. With the first electric series-production truck with a star, Mercedes-Benz Trucks is ushering in a new era and underscoring its clear commitment to locally CO2-neutral road haulage. The series-production model of the eActros is scheduled to roll off the production line in Wörth am Rhein from fall 2021. The findings from the "eActros innovation fleet" launched in 2018 and the close exchange with customers have been incorporated into the development of the series model. In addition, proven features such as MirrorCam and Multimedia Cockpit Interactive have also been adopted as standard equipment. The eActros is now ready to support Mercedes-Benz Trucks customers on their way to CO2-neutral transport services.

Audi has unveiled the first member of a new family of concept vehicles, a spectacular roadster. Audi skysphere concept is the name of the electric-powered, two-door convertible whose lines lead directly to the Audi design of tomorrow. To give passengers the maximum amount of freedom, the Audi skysphere concept was designed for two different driving experiences: a grand touring experience and a sports experience. This makes use of a spectacular technical detail – the variable wheelbase. Electric motors and a sophisticated mechanism with body and frame components that slide into one another make it possible to vary the wheelbase itself and the exterior length of the car by 250 millimeters. At the same time, the vehicle’s ground clearance is adjusted by 10 millimeters to enhance comfort and driving dynamics.

As part of the rigorous design, development and testing process of the all-new Nissan Qashqai, one of the criteria to be satisfied is that of the interior scent. The so-called “new car smell” is a key characteristic of any newly purchased vehicle and Nissan’s engineers work hard to ensure that it is just right, recognising that it’s an important ingredient in the pride of new car ownership for buyers. Peter Karl Eastland is Odour Evaluation Lead Engineer, based at Nissan Technical Centre Europe. His unassuming job title doesn’t reflect what a unique and perhaps surprising role he plays in the development of Nissan’s European range of vehicles. The most recent example of his work can be found on the all-new Nissan Qashqai, which went on sale in Europe in July. Particular attention has been paid to elevate the all-new Qashqai’s on-board ambience, from the fit and finish, materials including new premium leather, to the user-friendly technology. But the attention to detail in fine-tuning every aspect is reflected in the important role of ensuring the life-on-board experience isn’t compromised by any unappealing odours.

Crisp and compact on the outside, very spacious and versatile on the inside with cool SUV looks. That is the new Opel Crossland (RRP incl. VAT in Germany from €18,995), which is the first model to adopt the brand’s unmistakeable new face, showcased just a few weeks ago by the new Opel Mokka. As with the Mokka, the new Opel Crossland dispenses with the X-appendix in its name. In addition to the design, Opel has further developed the Crossland’s chassis and steering, and added a sporty GS Line trim as well as IntelliGrip adaptive traction control. Organically integrating the grille and headlights, the Opel Vizor of the new Crossland extends in one single sweep across the front of the vehicle. The Vizor optically stretches the width and organises the fascia with a reduced amount of elements. The brand’s legendary lightning-flash emblem proudly dominates the centre. The Vizor will become a hallmark of all Opel models in the course of the 2020s with the idea of further clustering top technologies.
