Volkswagen has redesigned the equipment lines. From now on, the configurator will start with the "Polo" version, followed by "Life", "Style" and "R-Line". Even the basic "Polo" equipment line has a significantly increased range of standard features on board. This plus includes LED headlights, LED taillights, a multifunction steering wheel and "Lane Assist". Another new feature is the center airbag. It is located on the driver's side in the rear seat backrest; the center airbag opens toward the center in the event of an emergency and protects the driver and front passenger. In addition, Volkswagen has now included the "Digital Cockpit" (digital instruments with an 8.0-inch display) in the basic equipment. Now also standard: the air conditioning system, the "Composition Media" audio system with a 6.5-inch monitor, a Bluetooth telephone interface, electrically adjustable and heated exterior mirrors, and power windows all around. The next stage is the "Life" equipment version. Here, additional features such as 15- instead of 14-inch wheels, "App-Connect," a center armrest including an additional USB-C interface in the center of the rear seat, and leather on the steering wheel and shift knob are standard.

When defining the electrification strategy, it was clear from the outset that all essential components would be developed in Affalterbach. At the heart of this is the AMG High Performance Battery (HPB) for the upcoming performance hybrid models. Development of the lithium-ion energy storage system began in 2016 and was inspired by technologies that have proven themselves in the Mercedes-AMG Petronas F1 Team's Formula 1 hybrid racing cars under the toughest conditions. In the course of development, there was a lively exchange of expert knowledge between the High Performance Powertrains (HPP) Formula 1 engine forge in Brixworth and Mercedes-AMG in Affalterbach. The specifications were quickly defined: The AMG High Performance Battery combines high power that can be called up frequently in succession with low weight to increase the overall performance of the vehicle. Added to this are the fast energy absorption and the high power density. This means that, on a fast drive, for example in hilly terrain, the full power potential can be called up immediately uphill, while recuperation is strong when driving downhill.
After Race-2, Brad Horstmann (Foreign of Beverly Hills) had one more reason to celebrate on the podium at Misano. As well as the track win, he also sealed the Ferrari Challenge North America – Coppa Shell title at the end of a hard-fought season. The US driver’s season rose to a crescendo, hitting the mark in the last five races. “It couldn’t have been a better weekend. To win the final ranking, I needed one more point than my rival [Kevan Millstein, ed] and instead, I got the maximum: two poles, two fast laps in the race and two wins. I couldn’t have done more”.
