MINI Electric Pacesetter - Formula E safety car - design walkaround

Source: AutoMotoTV (Glomex)

The exterior of the MINI Electric Pacesetter inspired by JCW, tailored for use on the racetrack, shows the most dynamic expression of a purely electrically powered MINI to date. The design is an exciting symbiosis of technical precision and emotion," elaborates Oliver Heilmer, Head of MINI Design. "Here, function determines form, and many design elements are technically driven. For example, the shape of the wheel arches, front and rear aprons were developed in close consultation with colleagues from BMW Motorsport and are optimized in terms of weight, among other things. And it is this striking, technically precise design language that gives the vehicle its high emotionality and fascination." At the front, classic MINI icons such as the round headlights and hexagonal radiator grille form the typical MINI face with high recognition value. At the same time, characteristic John Cooper Works elements such as the wheel arches adapted to the track width and the deeply drawn front apron with additional split front splitter emphasize the sporty perception of the front. The closed "radiator grille" and the MINI Electric logo reveal the electric "heart" of the safety car. Since virtually no classic engine cooling is required in the upper grille area, the front was largely closed for aerodynamic reasons. The only exceptions are the area below the grille and the distinctive, almost square openings for cooling the brakes. The white "front flasher" light surrounds of the safety car are harmoniously integrated into the hood. The characteristic bonnet stripes continue across the roof into the rear section.
