Since 2021, Mercedes-Benz has ensured subsequent compensation through green electricity when customers charge in Europe via Mercedes me Charge. High-quality certificates of origin ensure that as much green electricity from renewable energies is fed into the grid as is withdrawn via Mercedes me Charge. For the first three years after purchasing an EQE, there is no basic charge for Mercedes me Charge and thus Green Charging for customers. The EQE can also be charged particularly conveniently with the new Plug & Charge function. Mercedes me Charge is one of the largest charging networks in the world: it currently has around 700,000 AC and DC charging points, including over 300,000 in Europe. Only green electricity is already offered at the IONITY charging stations. Mercedes-Benz has significantly expanded this opportunity to further reduce its carbon footprint: With Mercedes me Charge, customers have been charging green electricity at every public charging station throughout Europe, the USA and Canada since 2021. In addition, the functionality of Mercedes me Charge in MBUX is being expanded to include functions such as filtering and forecasting the availability of charging stations.
