CUPRA Formentor VZ5 - from off-road to race track

Can a vehicle really be capable of not only blending comfortably into everyday traffic, but also accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.2 seconds and effortlessly negotiating a 70 percent incline? Racing driver Jordi Gené and Christoph Vierling, Head of Overall Vehicle Development at the SEAT S.A. Technical Center, set out today to find out just that: They are putting the brand's most powerful model, the CUPRA Formentor VZ5, to the test. On the Motorland Aragón racetrack in Spain, they are testing the versatility of this limited edition model's five driving modes, which guarantee maximum driving pleasure on any terrain.

The architecture of the modular electric drive system (MEB) on which the compact electric SUVs from Audi are based enables a completely new division of space. The technology components need only a little space: The high-voltage battery pack is designed as a flat block underneath the passenger compartment, while the drive unit is located in a compact arrangement on the rear axle – and on the front axle in the quattro models. The short front section houses the radiator, the electric brake booster and major components of the air-conditioning system.

Since its launch in 2017, the second generation of the Volkswagen Tiguan compact SUV has become the best-selling Volkswagen in America, mirroring its global success. For the 2022 model year, Volkswagen of America will launch a refreshed model with new styling and technology to elevate its compelling blend of utility and performance. On the outside, the Tiguan keeps its iconic look, but sharpens it with a completely revised front end. A distinctive bumper and broad grille are complemented by standard LED headlights and daytime running lights (DRLs), and can be accented further by an available illuminated light line flanking the VW logo. The top two trims feature updated, sporty R-Line® design elements, including bumpers and side sills. The distinctive side profile of the Tiguan remains with its strong character line carrying from the front fender through to the standard LED taillights. Newly centered Tiguan lettering on the rear matches Volkswagen family styling from the Arteon to the all-new Taos. The 2022 Tiguan will be available in eight exterior colors—including new Oryx White and Kings Red Metallic—and every trim level receives new wheels, ranging from 17-inch to 20-inch aluminum-alloy designs.
