A new definition of luxury meets the future of production at Mercedes-Benz: Production of the EQS electric sedan has started in Factory 56 at the Mercedes-Benz plant in Sindelfingen - flexible, digital, efficient and sustainable. The EQS joins the ongoing series production at the site as the first fully electric model. The Mercedes-Benz S-Class sedan, the long-wheelbase version and the Mercedes-Maybach S-Class are already rolling off the production line at Factory 56. The production of the EQS at Factory 56 is exemplary for sustainable and CO2-neutral vehicle production at Mercedes-Benz. Numerous measures to protect the environment and resources characterize the factory: for example, photovoltaic systems on the hall roof cover around 30 percent of the electricity requirements each year. Thanks to maximum flexibility, it is possible to assemble different models and drive types on one line. The processes and equipment in Factory 56 could therefore be precisely adapted to the requirements of the EQS electric model in the hall. This is clearly demonstrated, for example, by the marriage, the so-called Fullflex Marriage, in which the body is connected to the drive. The marriage in Factory 56 consists of several modular stations so that different drive variants can be married to the respective vehicle bodies on the same line.
