Electric power is at the service of Alfa Romeo's DNA

The Alfa Romeo Tonale is the brand's first electrified model, while remaining true to the brand's DNA, in which Italian sportiness is a constant. At the heart of this strategy is a state-of-the-art hybrid powertrain system developed specifically to meet Alfa Romeo's exacting standards. One component of the new Alfa Romeo Tonale's hybrid powertrain is a 1.5-liter four-cylinder gasoline engine that is powered by a variable-geometry turbocharger (Variable Geometry Turbo) to produce 118 kW (160 hp). The gasoline engine is combined with a 48-volt electric motor in P2 configuration, which provides a nominal 15 kW and 55 Newton meters of torque. Thanks to the 2.5:1 gear ratio, the actual torque is actually around 135 Nm. Equipped with the seven-speed Alfa Romeo TCT dual-clutch transmission, the Alfa Romeo Tonale accelerates from a standstill to 100 km/h in 8.8 seconds and reaches a top speed of 210 km/h. The P2 configuration of the powertrain enables the decoupling of the gasoline engine and electric motor. This means that the new Alfa Romeo Tonale can also run fully electrically. The engine-side alternative is a 96 kW (130 hp) version of the turbocharged gasoline engine, which is also combined with a 48-volt electric motor and dual-clutch transmission. With this engine, the 0-to-100 sprint is 9.9 seconds. This Alfa Romeo Tonale goes up to 195 km/h.
