The Hyundai IONIQ 5 is the first model based on the Electric Global Modular Platform (E-GMP) developed by the Hyundai Motor Group specifically for battery electric vehicles and also the first of the new Hyundai IONIQ sub-brand. Two battery sizes - 58- and 72.6 kWh - and all-wheel or rear-wheel drive are available for the electric CUV. Depending on the configuration, the e-vehicle achieves a system output of up to 225 kW/305 hp and offers a range of up to 481 kilometers according to the WLTP standard. With its 800-volt technology, both battery options can be charged from 10 to 80 percent of their capacity within 18 minutes at appropriate fast-charging stations. The IONIQ 5 also features the vehicle-to-load function, which allows customers to power any electrical devices such as notebooks or e-scooters with up to 230-volt AC while driving or stationary. Natural materials are used in the interior, emphasizing the sustainable character of the IONIQ 5. Flexibly adjustable front seats with a relax function that allows the driver and front passenger to recline at an ergonomically optimal angle ensure maximum comfort. A 12.25-inch screen each for the cockpit and the infotainment system highlight the advanced connectivity of the E-CUV. Both the center console and the rear seat can be moved to suit individual needs. The IONIQ 5 is also one of the few electric passenger cars that can tow trailers with a gross vehicle weight rating of up to 1,600 kilograms.
