"Footloose" star Lynne Marta dies at the age of 78
The legendary "Footloose" actress Lynne Marta has died at the age of 78, her friend Chris Saint-Hilaire has confirmed. Saint-Hilaire told The Hollywood Reporter that Marta died on January 11 at her home in Los Angeles after a battle with cancer. The New Jersey-born actress was best known for her role as Lulu Warnicker, the aunt of Kevin Bacon's Ren, in the 1984 classic 'Footloose'. She also appeared in several television series, including 'Charlie's Angels', 'Love, American Style', 'Starsky & Hutch' and 'Columbo'. Marta famously witnessed the murder of young actress Rebecca Schaeffer in 1989 by crazed fan Robert John Bardo. Marta, whose three-decade acting career lasted from 1971 to 2002, is survived by her sister MJ and her cat Mr. Peaches.
