The architecture of Volkswagen's modular e-drive system (MEB), on which the ID.4 models are based, makes a completely new layout possible. The drive components take up very little space, and the wheelbase is a full 2.77 meters. This turns the interior into open space - it is as spacious as a conventional SUV in the next class up. Its calm design emphasizes the airy feeling of space: the instrument panel seems to float, the center console is separate from it; its flexible configuration creates order for everyday utensils. The center airbag between the front seats, which deploys in the event of a side crash, further enhances passive safety. The luggage compartment of the ID.4 Pro 4MOTION holds 543 liters; by folding down the rear seat backrests, it grows to 1,575 liters (loaded roof-high). With the optional hitch, the sporty E-SUV can tow trailers weighing up to 1,400 kilograms (braked, at 8 percent incline). This makes it a reliable partner when it comes to moving smaller transport or boat trailers.

The latest generation, hybrid-only Honda HR-V returns to the highly competitive crossover SUV segment that also includes best-sellers like the Renault Captur, Ford Puma and VW T-Cross. When it comes to safety, the new HR-V is an all-round performer but the restraint performance in crash tests, in particular for children seated in the rear, was not as robust as expected. This dropped its score in this part of the assessment into the four-star band.
