The latest assistance technologies in the ID.5 have been awarded four out of a possible four points by Euro NCAP (European New Car Assessment Programme), giving them the top score of "very good". The testers attested that the innovative systems in the all-electric ID.5 offer maximum comfort and an outstanding level of assistance. With the "Driver Assistance Test," Euro NCAP has expanded its assessment spectrum beyond the classic crash test procedure and introduced a structured assessment and grading system in the area of comfort and assistance systems. This is intended to give consumers a realistic insight into the performance of current assistance systems. In the area of "Vehicle Assistance," the additional test procedures consist of a series of critical highway driving scenarios, such as typical turn-in and turn-out maneuvers, designed to test how effectively the system is able to assist the driver in avoiding a potential accident. It also evaluates "driver engagement" ("Driver Engagement"), which is how the driver and system work together and how the system ensures that the driver stays engaged with the driving task. In addition, the "Safety Backup" category tests the vehicle's ability to avoid collisions and mitigate any accident consequences that may occur. Euro NCAP highlights in its assessment: "The VW ID.5 offers very good vehicle assistance. Combined with excellent safety support, the system provides very good support overall - especially on the highway."
