Top marks for the new Renault Megane E-TECH Electric: the brand's 25th model, the all-electric newcomer secures five stars in the independent Euro NCAP crash test. The Megane E-TECH Electric achieves top scores for adult and child protection, pedestrian safety and driver assistance systems. The basis for the high safety level is the newly developed CMF-EV platform for electric vehicles. Even the entry-level version of the new Megane E-TECH Electric features a wide range of safety-relevant assistance systems: In addition to lane departure warning and safety distance warning, the vehicle is equipped with emergency brake assist, drowsiness warning and traffic sign recognition with speed adaptation. Also standard, the active emergency lane departure warning system uses the front camera and front radar to detect the risk of a head-on collision with an oncoming vehicle when the driver is about to overtake, starting at 65 km/h. The system also detects when the driver is about to overtake. Likewise, the system registers when the vehicle threatens to leave the road. In both cases, the active emergency lane departure warning system warns the driver with a visual warning signal and, if necessary, intervenes in the steering to correct the situation. Also new from Renault is Rear Emergency Brake Assist, which is able to detect pedestrians when reversing, for example, and apply emergency braking if necessary.
