The new Lexus RZ 450e - interior design and Tazuna cockpit

For the cockpit of the new RZ, Lexus has further developed the Tazuna concept. The steering wheel position and precise arrangement of instruments, controls and displays ensure that only minor hand and eye movements are required to operate the vehicle's functions. The concept is inspired by how a rider controls a horse with minimal movements of the reins - the meaning of "tazuna" in Japanese. The optional "One Motion Grip" yoke steering wheel allows the full benefits of the Tazuna cockpit concept to be realized. The optimized arrangement of instruments, head-up display and 14-inch multimedia display, as well as the lowered instrument panel, improve forward visibility. The absence of additional design applications ensures a clear and minimalist look that is underscored by high-quality materials. The simplicity of the design is also reflected in the new control element for the shift-by-wire system on the center console. The interior is designed as a bright and open space that is further enhanced by atmospheric ambient lighting; it offers a wide range of selectable colors. Lexus has also developed a new lighting effect: This uses light and shadow patterns to create different effects on the door panels.
