The first BMW iX - Sustainable, flexible production at the BMW Group Plant Dingolfing

Source: AutoMotoTV (Glomex)

The BMW iX is produced at the BMW Group Plant Dingolfing. It is deeply integrated into the existing production structures there and is built on an assembly line in a swap-flexible manner together with models of the BMW 5 Series, the BMW 7 Series and the BMW 8 Series. The plant in Lower Bavaria is the first production facility in the BMW Group's international production network to build vehicles with fully electric, plug-in hybrid and combustion engine drive systems on a single assembly line. In order to be able to present this flexibility and drive diversity, the Dingolfingen vehicle assembly line was expanded and restructured, particularly in the areas of swivel assembly and aggregate installation. Areas for the delivery and assembly of electrified axles and high-voltage batteries have been created there, and the installation of the powertrain in the body, the so-called marriage, has been rebuilt. This also includes a new highly automated assembly line for installing the high-voltage batteries.
