Eleven dogs and two cats rescued from abandoned California apartment filled with junk
Thirteen pet cats and dogs were rescued from an abandoned apartment in San Diego, California. Animal welfare workers spoke to reporters on October 6 about the rescue, which involved digging through piles of junk and debris in a 4-day effort to find the animals and clear the room. The pets are being cared for at a San Diego Humane Society facility. Workers are continuing to monitor the room in case there are more animals.
