The controversial Osnabrück Bishop Franz-Josef Bode announced his resignation on Saturday. This makes him the first bishop to resign over allegations of abuse in his church. In September, the University of Osnabrück had published a study on sexual abuse in the Osnabrück diocese. In it, the bishop was accused of serious breaches of duty.
