Bavaria's population is growing and getting older. This was announced today in Fürth by Bavaria's Interior Minister Joachim Herrmann. According to preliminary calculations, the population is set to increase by 4.6 percent to almost 14 million people by 2042. A significant change in the age structure is also expected. Accordingly, the average age of the population in Bavaria will rise from 44 years to 45.4 years. In view of the ageing population, Herrmann believes that targeted and tailored immigration of skilled foreign workers from the EU and third countries is of great importance.
