The new Audi Q8 e-tron - More battery capacity and higher charging power

Source: AUTOMOTOTV (Glomex)

Two battery sizes are available: In the Q8 50 e-tron the battery has a storage capacity of 89 kilowatt hours net (95 kWh gross), in the two more powerful versions Q8 55 e-tron and SQ8 e-tron 106 kWh net (114 kWh gross) are available. There have been further developments in cell technology and cell chemistry. In the production process, for example, the individual cells are layered using stacking technology, which results in up to 20 percent higher energy density in the same space. The battery capacity available to customers has also been increased by adapting the battery management system. At a high-power charging station (HPC), the Audi Q8 50 e-tron achieves a maximum charging power of 150 kW. For the Q8 55 e-tron and the SQ8 e-tron, the maximum charging power increases to up to 170 kW. For both battery sizes, this means that the battery can be charged from 10 to 80 percent in a charging stop of around 31 minutes. In ten minutes at an HPC charging station, the Q8 50 e-tron and Q8 55 e-tron can recharge up to 123 kilometers of range, while the SQ8 e-tron has a range of 104 kilometers. These values determined according to WLTP apply equally to the SUV and Sportback. In addition, the Audi Q8 e-tron scores with a charging curve that is unique in the competitive environment and runs at a high level for a very long time, thus allowing fast recharging of long ranges. This makes the Audi Q8 e-tron a vehicle with high long-distance capability. At an AC charging station or wallbox, the Audi Q8 e-tron charges with up to 11 kW of power. Audi optionally offers an AC charging power of 22 kW. With AC power, the Audi Q8 50 e-tron can be fully charged in almost 9:15 hours (22 kW: almost 4:45 hours) under ideal conditions. With the large battery, it is around 11:30 hours with 11 kW and approximately 6:00 hours with 22 kW charging power.
