BMW M GmbH presents an expressive new vehicle concept to the world public for the first time at Art Basel Miami Beach 2021: the BMW Concept XM. The model provides a preview of the most powerful BMW M automobile ever built in series, production of which will start at the end of next year. At the same time, the BMW Concept XM highlights extraordinary aspects of the "M" brand: electrification ensures an outstanding driving experience between virtually silent gliding and typical M high-performance characteristics. The BMW Concept XM shows for the first time the new front design for BMW's future luxury class. In addition, we see an enormously progressive and independent interpretation of the design of the BMW X models, as well as a completely new form of luxury and sense of space in the interior of the vehicle. The production vehicle, the BMW XM, will be produced from the end of 2022 at the BMW Group Plant Spartanburg in the USA, the most important sales market for the new high-performance model. This marks the 50th anniversary of BMW M GmbH bringing the first stand-alone model since the legendary BMW M1 to the roads. The BMW XM will be available exclusively only as an M and exclusively as a plug-in hybrid. The striking exterior appearance stands for the outstanding performance characteristics: Dynamics, agility and precision with an electric range of up to 80 kilometers. The newly developed M Hybrid drive of the BMW Concept XM combines a V8 engine with a high-performance electric motor to generate a peak output of 550 kW/750 hp and a maximum torque of 1,000 Nm. BMW M GmbH's first electrified vehicle in the high-performance segment thus points the way to the brand's future.

Associates at the Indiana Auto Plant (IAP) today celebrated the start of mass production of the all-new 2022 Civic Hatchback at the Greensburg plant. Honda has built Civic models in America since 1986, but this is the first time the Civic Hatchback has been built in the U.S. A $50.2 million investment in IAP helped prepare the facility for mass production of the all-new version of Civic. The investment includes a building expansion for laser braze technology for the roof of the Civic Hatchback, the latest new model for the plant. Other new processes include a major increase in the use of high-performance structural adhesives for improved body rigidity and the application of acoustic spray foam to the Civic body structure for the first time for enhanced cabin quietness. IAP started production operations by building the Honda Civic in October 2008. As the first Honda plant in the U.S. to build the 2022 Civic Hatchback, this all-new model represents yet another production first for the Greensburg plant. IAP also was the first Honda plant in the U.S. to build the Acura ILX (2012), Honda Insight (2019) and CR-V Hybrid (2020).
