EU waives sanctions against Patriarch Kirill

Due to opposition from Hungary, the EU waives sanctions against Russian Orthodox Church leader Patriarch Kirill for the time being. The sixth EU sanctions package was approved by EU states on Thursday, but without the planned sanctions against Patriarch Kirill. The sanctions package also includes an oil embargo. Hungarian head of government Viktor Orban had refused to agree to an oil embargo for weeks.
