The World's First Carbon Neutral Esports Team - Betclic Apogee

Betclic Apogee is the first esports team (21 athletes from Portugal, Italy and Poland) in the world with a zero emissions certification. This project is in line with the United Nations 2030 Agenda and will go further as the carbon credits are used in innovative regeneration projects. This is exemplary: FIFA European Champion Lucio "HhezerS" Vecchione (ITA) and his team Betclic Apogee became the first esports team in the world to be confirmed with a Carbon Neutral certification. This seal of environmental sustainability is awarded by an independent body based in the Netherlands - ZEROCertified - in collaboration with the Portuguese Zero Waste Lab. The certification process has undergone rigorous scientific scrutiny, led by experts from Zero Waste Lab - a non-profit association dedicated to promoting greener social behavior. To determine the team's ecological footprint, an APP was created with an emissions calculator, in which each member recorded their activities. The result was a final estimate of 400 tons of CO2 in 2022. Through this process, it was not only possible to neutralize the carbon footprint, but also to make a positive impact by supporting a regeneration project
